HIV/AIDS ACTION PROGRAMME

This programme has developed a proven model for developing HIV/AIDS competent communities.

The programme was initially funded by the Canon Collins Educational Trust for Southern Africa and Phelophepa Health Care Train and has been supported further by One-to-One Children’s Fund, National Development Agency, European Union, Momentum Fund, ABSA Foundation, Transnet Foundation, US Embassy, Small Grants Fund, Swedish International Development Agency, Eastern Cape Department of Health, USAID, MEASURE Evaluation and by volunteers and community based organisations in 27 areas of the Eastern Cape.

The programme has reached over 2 million people in our province and has been shown to have decreased sexually risky behaviour and built capacity of communities, organisations, individuals and families to combat HIV/AIDS (through prevention, care, treatment and support).

The programme has started a counter-infection of hope, love, care, and action to combat HIV/AIDS.
