INTRODUCTION

 

The Small Projects Foundation has now been operating for 20 years since its establishment on

7th January 1988.

 

The Foundation has made a significant contribution to development in the Eastern Cape and South Africa during this period.  This contribution has been in the following areas:

a)   Identifying critical constraints

b)   Establishing pilot projects to address these, and

c)   Replicating these pilots into programmes that expand and become ongoing.

 

The Foundation aims at achieving the development of individuals, families and communities who are committed to their own growth and development.

 

The three main elements that we have focused on for our beneficiaries is in providing:

 

1. Information about available options.

2. Training in deciding on options, sharing information, creating and sharing knowledge and using these to take up opportunities; and

3. Support in implementing projects and options.  All programmes and projects of the Foundation are built on the axioms of helping those individuals, families and communities who have the necessary commitment to grow and develop and of assisting only when specifically requested to do so.
