We sought to benefit 600 children and educate 12 Early Childhood Practitioners at four crèches to a National Qualification Framework level 4. Our training is educating 25 ECD teachers and supporting 1 213 learners in 24 Educare centres.

We have also partnered with other welfare funders such as Rotary Clubs – both local and overseas –  Rotary Districts and Rotary International. We will eventually have trained 50 ECD practitioners to NQF 4 level at 49 ECD centres and directly benefit around three thousand beneficiaries by December 2017.

The long term benefit of training teachers is that an equivalent number of children will benefit each year from a quality education.

The three components are:

1 Early Childhood Development (ECD)
2 Partners for Possibilities (Primary School)
3 Bright Futures (High School + Secondary School) which is being initiated

We will train 25 ECD practitioners to National Qualification level 4. The practitioners have been selected from existing staff members and volunteers from 24 ECD centres in the Buffalo City area.

The project was a partnership with the Loaves and Fishes Network, the Buffalo City Child Care Development Agency and Rotary International. It was funded by the Kistefos Educational Programme and Rotary Clubs in Buffalo City and in the USA. It ran until September 2016.
